Supply Pool - Hairdressing Lecturer

The college currently administers its own supply pool of staff for assignments on a casual basis and is available for individuals who wish to undertake lecturing, learner support or administration work.

Opportunities occur across the entire College curriculum and in the various administrative centres within the College, together with Adult Learning courses at various venues within the local community.

Assignments can be as little as a couple hours a week up to full time working and many supply pool staff have gone on to hold fixed term and permanent posts within the College.

Assignments may involve contact with children under 18 or vulnerable members of society, therefore, under Part V of the Police Act 1997, all individuals engaged in such occupations are required to obtain a certificate of disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. This must be carried out before any work is offered.

If you are looking to further your career at a groundbreaking and award-winning College, we’d love to hear from you!
Our Hair & Beauty provision sits within the School of Creative & Service Industries, where students develop professional skills within realistic working environments that reflect current industry practice. As a Lecturer, you will support students to develop the technical skills, professional behaviours and industry awareness required to succeed within the hairdressing sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced hair professionals who are passionate about their craft and interested in sharing their expertise within a supportive and dynamic learning environment.

The Role

Working as part of the Hair & Beauty team, you will deliver engaging practical and theory-based sessions that support students to develop the skills and confidence required within the professional hairdressing industry.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting students to develop practical skills within realistic salon environments

• Providing feedback and guidance to support student progress and development
• Contributing to assessment activities and supporting students to achieve their qualifications
• Maintaining a safe, professional and organised salon environment in line with health and safety procedures
• Supporting the delivery of commercial salon sessions and client services where appropriate

As our salons operate as real working environments for training and client services, the role requires a flexible approach to working hours, including occasional evening sessions to support the curriculum offer and ensure students gain experience within authentic industry settings.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for individuals who:
• Hold a Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Hairdressing
• Have recent industry experience within a professional salon environment
• Ideally hold, or be willing to work towards, a teaching qualification
